Citroën Deals at Osenat Fontainebleau Auction?

With the Retromobile auctions in Paris behind us in 2018, the prices of Citroëns seem to be taking a downward turn.  At least it would appear that way given the estimated values listed by the Osenat auction house for their upcoming sale this Saturday, March 24 in Fontainebleau.  Or maybe they are showing low estimates to attract a crowd…

Update as of March 28, 2018:  We were right in our prediction.  There were some incredible deals to be had.  The 1955 and 1962 2CVs, the DS, SM and the Traction in particular all sold for far below market value.  Certainly astute purchases by the lucky new owners!  Selling prices are posted beside each vehicle.

Take Lot # 116 for example; a 1973 5-speed euro spec fuel injected SM with a claimed perfect body and leather interior, estimated to fetch a mere  23.000 €.

     1973 SM.  Est: 17.000 – 23.000 €.  SOLD for 33.600 €.

Or Lot # 137; a 1955 2CV Type AZ, that they think will cap out at 11.000 €.  It was just a month and a half ago that a 1949 2CV sold for a record 73.000 €.  Granted this car is not pre-1950s, and appears to have had some use, but it still – a very sound early 2CV for just 11.000 €.

  1955 2CV TYPE AZ.    Est: 9.000 – 11.000 €.  SOLD for 10.800 €.

Want a little later model but with equal Gallic charm?  Also offered is a 1962 2CV Type AZ that they say is in good conditon and should command only 7.000 €.

  1962 2CV TYPE AZ.  Est: 5.000 – 7.000 €.  SOLD for 7.840 €.

And then there’s this 1968 DS21 with a manual gearbox, Jaeger dash, and tan leather interior.  With the DS recently winning the award for the ‘coolest car of all time’ from UK’s Auto Express, one would think that even though this DS being auctioned hasn’t run since 2013, it is under market value if it only sells for 18.000  €.

  1968 DS21.  Est: 15.000 – 18.000 €.  SOLD for 12.000 €.

The variety of “truckettes” is also an interesting reason to take a closer look:

  1976 2CV Type AZ SIE KA.  Est: 4.000 – 6.000 €.  SOLD for 7.320 €.

  1960 2CV Type AZU.  Est: 5.000 – 7.000 €.  SOLD for 10.200 €.

  1963 2CV Type AZU.  Est: 4.000 – 6.000 €.  SOLD for 8.760 €.

Modern sporting fun can be had in a 1990 AX Sport for a what they estimate will go for less than 10.000  €

  1990 AX Sport.  Est: 8.000 – 10.000 €.  SOLD for 9.600 €.

And finally, the venerable old Traction.  A loevly 1953 11BL that has had the body, engine and gearbox restored and appears to be in nice shape!  11BLs have never commanded high dollars but considering what the owner has invested in it, 15.000 € should still be a comparative bargain!

  1953 Traction Avant 11BL.  Est: 10.000 – 15.000 €.  SOLD for 11.640 €.

It will be interesting to see what these cars actually sell for.

If you want to get in on the action, it’s all happening on March 24 at 14:30 Paris time at:
9-11, rue Royale
Fontainebleau, 77300
France
