Due to an impending relocation, Citroën is planning to auction 64 cars from the Conservatoire next month.
Approximately 400 Citroëns currently reside in the company’s heritage collection – from early pre-war examples, one-off prototypes and important motorsport cars.
Citroën says that it is mainly offering cars of which it has multiple examples, with prices ranging from €1000-€20,000. Although the full list of cars has yet to be revealed (the catalogue will be available on November 20th), Citroën has confirmed that the auction will include pre-war, ‘youngtimers’, modern cars as well as a few interesting prototype models, like those from Sbarro. There will also be around 90 items of Citroën automobilia offered during the same auction.
The downsizing is necessitated by the Conservatoire’s impending relocation from the Aulnay-sous-Bois (Citroën’s old factory, which has not produced any cars since 2012, and is located in the outskirts of Paris near Charles de Gaulle Airport).

Some of the collection is set to move into the recently revitalized L’Aventure Peugeot Citroën DS in Sochaux, the home of Peugeot. The company claims that the new location will not only house the cars, but it’s also much better suited to hosting events dedicated to celebrating the company’s history. Citroën’s 100 year anniversary takes place in 2018, and a number of the cars will be placed in temporary storage elsewhere for use in celebrations.
For those interested in buying one of these cars, all will be offered via the online auction house Leclere-Maison de Ventes. While telephone bids are also accepted, the online auction will go live from 2.00pm on December 10 for 24 hours. There will be a special preview exhibition on December 9 at the Conservatoire.
