The driver in a very elongated position, facing then a steering wheel made of leather, wood and metal.

In “autonomous driving” mode, the driver can choose to become a passenger and settle in a glass cocoon via a butterfly door, to sit in a ventilated and massaging seat. An additional seat can also be added to accommodate a total of a three, and if the decides not to operate the car from the coskpit, the assistant “IRIS” (a hologram) ensures a virtual connection with the outside world.

Built around a carbon chassis, the DS X E-Tense concept is 100% electric driven with power sent to the front wheels, developing a total of 540 hp in normal use and up to 1,360 hp in “circuit” mode. Motricity, grip and deceleration are managed by a physical and software package, while the ground hugging suspension been designed by DS Performance, the sporting arm of DS Automobiles competing in the FIA Formula E Championship.

“DS X E-TENSE is a concentrate of our human emotions, materialized by the know-how of our engineers; an interpretation that has mobilized our avant-garde spirit as a team and our avant-garde minds as automotive enthusiasts,” commented Yves Bonnefont, General Manager of DS Automobiles.
