We are saddened too announce the passing of Citroënvie member Ruth Dyke on December 5 at 95 years of age after a brief illness in Guelph ON, Canada.  Ruth is the mother of George Dyke, President of Citroën AutoClub Canada and Citroënvie.  She and her late husband of 67 years, Gordon Dyke who passed away in 2010, attended various Citroën events in both the US and Canada.

Up until September of 2016 Ruth was still able to live by herself in her condominium in Guelph.  Mentally alert up until her final days, Ruth had the uncanny ability to remember people, places and her activities over the years with family and friends.  She was always thinking of others and their happiness.

Born Ruth Livermore on June 10, 1921 in Montreal, she was the oldest daughter of Alice Manhire and George Livermore.  After achieving top grades in public and high school, she took a job with The Bell Telephone Company in Canada where she rose to being a lead operator trainer in Montreal’s downtown core.  After WWII she left Bell and moved with her husband Gordon to Halifax. She took on the role of being a housewife and made family her priority.  They moved to Hamilton, ON in 1953 to Toronto in 1954 while Gordon was store manager with the D’Allards ladies ware stores, and then back to Montreal in 1961 to be closer to family.  As family moved from Quebec to Ontario in the 1980’s she and Gordon decided to do the same and in 1995 they moved to Guelph feeling that it would be a lovely place to spend the balance of their retirement years.

Ruth is survived by her son George and his wife Marijke Dyke, her granddaughter Elizabeth and her husband Jaret Voce, and her great grandaughter Cassidy Voce.  Ruth’s younger sister, Marjorie Scott (91 years of age), remains in the same nursing facility in Guelph.  They had rooms across the hall from each other and were able to be close and visit to the last day.

A private memorial service will be held for Ruth in Guelph at a time to be announced.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
