So, you feel your 2CV is a little under-powered?

Then you might want to check out this 1967 2CV fitted with a small block Chevy V8 that was recently offered for sale from Caro, Michigan on eBay.  Here’s the item description:

“Up for auction is a 1967 Citroën 2CV with a small block Chevy, 700r4 trans and S-10 frame.  The engine is a 360 cid Chevy, and early 70’s 4 bolt 350 block .060 with je forged flat top pistons, 6 inch I beam rods, stock crank turned .010-.010 and fully balanced.  The heads are 462 castings with a 2.02, 1.60 stainless valves, hardened ex seats, bronze guides, screw in studs, chrome moly retainers with 10 degree locks and cam matching springs.  Heads were bowl ported, gasket matched and polished. The chambers were opened to 68 cc and polished.  Cam is a split 268/278 dur.  450/468 lift hyd.  Cam and 1.5 ratio roller rockers.  Intake is a early Weiand with dual carter WCFB’s and work great.

Trans is a 700r4 with a hi-speed low/rev.  Gear set, Beast sun shell, Red Race clutch, Trans-go stage 2 valve-body kit with a 2400 rpm stall lockup  converter w/deep pan.  Frame is a 1988 S-10 2wd with a custom rear section to fit body.  Front end has tubular upper a – arms and rack and pinion.  Rear end is a stock 2wd S-10 with a 3.23 ratio open diff, custom 4 link with AFCO coil overs.

You can’t really see in the pictures but the fuel tank has full tubular bars above and below it for protection from rear.  I built and showed this car 1st at Detroit Autorama in 2014, Gene Winfield liked the car and signed the dash for me, but the car at that time had not been drove and had a few things to finish it totally.  But due to sudden health problems that forced me to retire I really never got to enjoy the car or finish the small details.  I drove the car about 100 miles after breaking in the motor, to check the trans and brakes.  (all OK).

I really hate to sell this car but I need the money to live on for awhile until I can get things settled out in my life.  But I can always smile thinking about someone else enjoying it and the people that will see it.  No matter where you go to a show or a cruise nobody will have one of these and wow does it attract a lot of attention.”

We bet it sure does! It’s hardly a 2CV anymore other than the body shape, yet we can’t help but think how much of a blast this would be to pull into a Cars-n-Coffee meet and out muscle the typical “power crowd” that congregate there.

 Gene Winfield signing the dashboard.

Update: The vehicle sold on October 16, 2017 for just $8,100 with only 1 bid placed beyond the opening price.  A great deal for the lucky new owner!

  1. This car is local to me and a friend of mine. It’s a very nice build and this car was DONE. It was so rough it had no future as a 2CV.
