Superb D Super 5 Speed Up For Sale

On September 3 at Salon Privé, Silverstone Auctions, they will offer a Citroën that we have featured in Citroënvie.  It is the superb 1973 D Super 5 that belonged to Len Drew.  The car was originally purchased by the CEO of a Citroën dealership, and Ken was the 2nd owner and fanatically maintained it for nearly 30 years.

Ken took every bolt and nut apart and restored the vehicle better than when it had left the factory.  A European show winner since 1987, it has won over 200 awards including being crowned National Champion at both the Welsh Benson & Hedges Concours (1990) and Popular Classics Roadshow (1991).

It also placed at the Scottish Benson & Hedges Concours in 1991 and 1998 and has made appearances on the TV shows Top Gear and Fifth Gear.

When he put it up for sale at Samuel Laurence Specialist Cars in London England, the odometer reading was 66,368 miles.

It is finished in period white (Blanc Meije) bodywork with original Red targa upholstery and Grey carpet.  And it is regarded by many as being the cleanest D in existence.

It recently had a permanent place at the Conservatoire Citroën, the museum of the brand based in Aulnay-sous-bois.  However we hear that some of the collection at the Conservatoire Citroën is now being disbanded and so this car will go to private domain.  Consequently at auction this D Super 5 is expected to fetch between £75,000 to £100,000 ($131,000 US).

UPDATE:  Sold for £ 73,130. ($97,265 US).
