My Uncle in Holland had one of these as his daily driver. I remember the wicker seats and the three lug nut wheels. We did have fun in it
I drove my first 2CV when on an ‘exchange’ visit to Charente, where my pen-pal of many years lived, on a farm. It was fun, yes, bare bones, no frills. But also a real eye opener, as we took the car into the fields for harvest and removed the seats to use for our lunchtime picnics. Also, it was so much easier to shift gears than my uncle’s decommissioned Austin London black cab, used to transport larger paintings to and from his gallery! The cab could easily accommodate a 40 x 50 inch frame. My other discovery on that trip was a Solex.

Elle ne devaient pas s’y écrire.
Hello,
oh! how I love this photo! It reminds me of happy summer holidays in Royan in 1969, which gave us the chance to meet the local children. Those holidays would be spent in the Charente region, leaving behind the Mediterranean, which had been nurturing us for so many years, for this new place. They weren’t meant to be there.
