The threat of rain did not dissuade a core group of CAC members from gathering at Tim Hortons at Hwy 10 and Mayfield Road in Brampton to start our autumn trek through the country side. After breakfast the first stage of our trip took us through the countryside to Belfountain and onto Hockley Valley. The leaves were turning and several small towns had fall fairs or were getting ready for Halloween.

We stopped at the Hockley Valley General Store for lunch, and soon learned that it was quite a popular spot for the locals to grocery shop and purchase their wine and spirits. While the guys talked cars. The ladies took this opportunity to check out the general store and talk about gardens, home renovations and other non Citroën items. The ladies also had a chance to visit an art gallery right next to the Hockley Valley General Store and speak to the artist whose work was being displayed.

Next stop was the Tottenham Steam Train and gift shop. Can you tell I like shopping? We went on an hour long excursion on a 1920’s steam train that runs a short distance from Tottenham to Beeton and back again. The tour guide was both informative and funny, making the ride feel more like fifteen minutes instead of nearly an hour. For those of you who could not make it to the outing, I recommend that you take the excursion. You can visit the steam train’s website at www.steamtrain.com.

Although plans called for continuing the afternoon by driving over to Bradford along the side road at the main canal in Holland Marsh, rain set in while we were on the train and as it was now 4 PM, the decision was made to call it a day. We took highway 27 down to Kleinburg, joining the 400 Expressway back to Toronto.

Many thanks to Greg Lamb for stepping forward to once again organize our Club day trip. I for one had a great time and can’t wait for our first driving event next year! See you at the Christmas party!!
