For Sale – 1939 Traction Avant 11BL Cabriolet

An authentic Traction Cabriolet that for most of it’s life has resided in the USA. Runs and drives well.

This convertible version of the Traction is quite rare. (There are only a handful in North America.)

Body in very good condition. Older repaint, still shows well.

Mileage: 54,860 kms (believed to be original).
VIN: 436482, Original body shell number: AR41466. Original engine number: DR06376.

According to The Citroën Archives Centre, Terre-Blanche, France the car was manufactured on May 3, 1939 in France.

It has the “Perfo” engine, and that’s really rare, as this engine was introduced in March 1939, so not that many cabriolets where built with that engine. The Perfo engine increased the power by close to 20% – to 56 hp, making the car much more driveable.

The original owner, Reid Elwell, a teacher in Carrington North Dakota was drafted during World War II. He served with the occupation forces in Germany until late 1946 as a captain. In 1947, he registered the car in Carrington ND. Eighteen years later he sold the car to Arnold Rodvik from LeCenter, MN in 1965 and the car stayed within the family with two different family members. The current owner has had it since 1980.

Before 1980, the owner is not sure what work was done since the previous owners are deceased. Since 1980, the car has been mostly in storage. At times, when the owner could work on it – he would. The following is a list of items that have been done by the current owner:

  1. Is this Cabriolet still for sale?
If so, does it need anything? Is there rust in the floor and the door bottoms ?
    Thanks!
