Citroënvie member James McMahon was in Vietnam this month and writes that he “was surprised and pleased to spot this pair of immaculate Citroëns in front of an old elegant hotel in Hanoi on a broad busy street”. He snapped these photos to share.
Immaculate on the outside perhaps, but interior photos show a raised floor in the center going from front to back and a modern console between the front seats. We’re pretty sure they have been modified for rear wheel drive. Then there’s the white pleated rear seats and a non-pleat pattern on the front ones. And it looks like two air-conditioning vents have been added to the dash.
Where precisely are these cars? We Googled “Chopard + Hanoi”, (the name on the building behind them) and that get’s a Google result with this photo and saying that the address is the Chopard Boutique in the Sofitel Metropole Hotel, 15 Ngo Quyen Street, Hanoi, Hà Nội 100000, Vietnam.
It’s quite the grand old hotel! Charlie Chaplin stayed there during his honeymoon!
