Citromatic gearbox. I bought it in 2013. It had been garaged for 22 years, with 55,000 miles on it. Interior was in good shape and the body had a bit of rust. Dave Burnham (amazing technician in NY State) brought the mechanicals back to life as listed below. Dave has also done annual thorough maintenance — replacing anything that did not check out. (I have all service records).
Service Details:
- 57,000 miles: new clutch, front discs and rotors, rear brakes, new muffler, new fuel pump, new starter and generator, re-cored radiator; rebuilt gas tank, rebuilt steering rack and main hydraulic pump.
- 80,000 miles; new battery, 4 new spheres, new motor mounts.
- Michelin XAS whitewall tires installed 4,000 miles ago.
The main structure of the car did NOT need any rebuild and in 2020 the car was given a professional repaint in the original Orient Blue color. Two new door skins from Holland and all new exterior trim were installed along with factory style upholstery and carpeting (with ‘Dunlopillow underlay).
Since I’ve owned the car, it has always been garaged, never driven in the rain or any snow and I am the only (expert) driver. The compliments have been a joy; incredible design, looks brand new, my father, uncle, friend had one. And endless honks and thumbs up on the highway.
I wrapped the steering wheel because I wanted a thicker rim. It is perfect underneath.
It is a DS21 even though the license plate says “DS19”. DS21 was already taken as a custom license plate in Massachusetts.
Price: $49,500 USD. Contact: Derek Polonsky Email: derekpolonsky@gmail.com.
