Three years ago Greg Long sent a rare low mileage US spec 1965 2CV to auction at Retromobile in Paris. It garnered a world record price for a 2CV of 50,000 euros ($66,000 US)*. On February 5, 2015 Greg will have another treasure on the block during Retromobile; Bonhams will be auctioning his genuine 1956 DS19. Only about 25 1956’s are known to exist. Of those just 3 were USA Exports of which this is one.
It was sold new from A & J Northshore Citroën north of Chicago. Then early in the 1960’s, was given to a dentist in lieu of dental work. It was at that point the head was removed and never put back on.
Though a barn find with original paint, we are anxiously waiting to see what it will sell for when it offered with no reserve. ‘DS Barn-find’ anyone?!
The Bonhams auction will be held at the grand Palais in Paris, exactly where the original DS was launched almost 60 years before!
