In Memoriam – Dorothy E. Nauss (1927 – 2019)

We are saddened to report the passing of Dorothy E. (Dellinger) Nauss, mother of Brad Nauss, on December 2, 2019, at 92 years of age. She often attended Rendezvous and many times Citroens at Carlisle, always enjoying the Citroën people that she met. She was the oldest of Red and Della Dellinger’s siblings and is survived only by her youngest brother Mike.

Dorothy died at the Gardens of West Shore, Camp Hill. Until December 2018, she resided for many years at Silver Spring Courtyard, Mechanicsburg.

She was born January 6, 1927, near Mt. Jackson, Shenandoah County, As a child, Dorothy occasionally lived with her beloved grandparents Joseph Arthur and Lily Cordelia Click whom she revered until her death.

She is survived by her three sons, William A. Nauss (Evelyn) of Mechanicsburg, John R. Nauss (Louise) of Sarasota, FL, Bradley E. Nauss (Anna May) of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Jennifer A. Nauss and Andrew M. Nauss (Kathryn) both of Mechanicsburg; and her youngest brother, Michael S. Dellinger (Linda) of Fort Mill, SC.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by siblings Melvin R. Dellinger, Noah F. Dellinger, Jr., Leo F. Dellinger, Norman J. Dellinger, Donald L. Dellinger, and Bettie Jean Staub.

Prior to her marriage, Dorothy was employed at the U.S. Naval Parts Depot in Mechanicsburg. She enjoyed her life as a housewife and mother and encouraged her son Brad to open his Citroën parts and consultation business, Brad Nauss Automotive in March of 1994, when he purchased all of the Citroën parts from Red Dellinger, (and eventually many other dealers).

Dorothy spent her time as a housewife cooking, canning, and baking. She also enjoyed working with her beloved flower beds until the age of 91.

Services will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019, at 11:00 am in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. A viewing will be held Friday from 10-11 am at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Fileys Cemetery, Dillsburg, PA. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc.
 
Dorothy’s family would like to thank the staff of the Acute Alzheimer’s Care Unit at The Gardens of West Shore and Asana Hospice for their care of her for the last five months.
