Bassist Bill Wyman played on some of the Rolling Stones’ most memorable albums, including Let It Bleed and Beggar’s Banquet, along with their masterpiece Exile On Main Street.
Like fellow Stones greats Keith Richards (who proudly owned a 1972 Dino and 1966 Bentley Continental Flying Spur) and Mick Jagger (who tooled around in an Aston Martin DB6 and Morgan V8), Wyman is also a car guy. He’s thinning out his collection this year—so well-heeled superfans looking for something a little more substantial than a signed record will get the opportunity to bid on a couple of his prized rides at Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale, one of which is this 1971 Citroën Maserati SM pictured above.
According to the Bonhams press release, Wyman enjoyed the SM immensely, taking it to an impressive list of European locals to play with equally impressive musicians:
“I drove it to Spain too. And to Marseilles, Portofino in Italy, and back to England a few times. Oh, and of course to Switzerland. I went there twice to play at the Montreux Jazz Festival. The first time was with Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and Pinetop Perkins. Then three years later I again drove there to play with Muddy Waters again.”
How’s that for a vehicle history report?
The Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale will take place June 26.
