The archives of the Citroën Factories in France are conserved and valued by CITROËN HERITAGE (one of the entities of the Peugeot Citroën DS Adventure).
To date, for vehicles from 1919 to 1979, the production records have provide the following information: date of production, confirmation of hull numbers, engine and bodywork, and any annotations (eg PO, PTT, Michelin finish).
From 1980 to 1990 there is this same information, and in addition, the commercial wording (Charleston for example) and sometimes the name of the dealer or the country of delivery.
It was announced by Guillaume Keller, Employee of Service Identification Vehicles at Association l’Aventure Peugeot Citroën DS, that Factory-Garage invoices from 1972 – 1978 Citroën vehicles have arrived. They will be accessible, subject to any reservations, in 2020. They mention the color, options, prices and name of the dealer.
Guillaume notes that for the period 1922-1926 some production records have not yet reached CITROËN HERITAGE.
CITROËN HERITAGE offers various services, at reduced prices for members of clubs affiliated to Amicale Citroën and DS and the Association of 2 CV Clubs de France:
– The certificate of date for a vintage vehicle, which serves both as a birth certificate to keep, and with historical bonus information.
– The Certificate of Conformity, which is used to obtain a normal registration card that is normally full, in the event of a typing error on your normal registration certificate or when you are importing a vehicle.
– Check before purchase, to be sure that the 2 CV Dolly or the DS Cabriolet you want to buy is not a copy.
These services are valid if you have a Citroën, a Panhard and a Peugeot, and even a Simca-Talbot (via the CAAPY).
