A Collection of 40 Citroëns Soon to be Auctioned by Aguttes

Aguttes will be auctioning all 40 Citroëns in a a Swiss collection on March 16, 2025. As a tease to the event, they will be displaying a few of them in their booth at Retromobile in Paris this week!

In January, photos were taken at the private collection of Jose Dula who was a Citroën dealer with a garage in Courtepin Switzerland where the 40 Citroëns are lined up in 4 rows, in a herringbone pattern. Here’s a link to an article in News D’Anciennes showing them: https://newsdanciennes.com/decouverte-une-collection-de-40-citroen-anciennes-bientot-a-vendre-chez-aguttes/.

The Citroëns to be auctioned include:

    • Estimate: 12000 – 18000 EUR
    • Recovered in the early 1990s from a fire station in the canton of Vaud, then restored at great expense. Nothing escaped the expert hands of Mr D. and his team: chassis, bodywork, upholstery, engine, axles, wooden platform… This very interesting van, which has a payload of over 1,400 kg, is in very good condition, with its superb varnished wooden floor. It has only covered 3,000 km since its restoration.
  • 1934 Citroën Kégresse P17E – Lot 88
    • Estimate: 25000 – 35000 EUR
    • This Citroën Kégresse P17E was the result of a public contract awarded by the French Ministry of War in December 1933. It is therefore a 1934 model that began its life in the French armed forces. Restored in France with the utmost care, its file includes several invoices worth more than €35,000. As for the two-tone bodywork, it has been repainted in the past and shows a few imperfections, with traces of corrosion on the left-hand rocker panel. Still equipped with its original engine and gearbox, this 7C underwent an engine rebuild in 2009, and has covered just 6,000 km since then. Regularly maintained, this Traction is in good working order.
  • 1950 Traction 15 Six D – Lot 91
    • Estimate: 18000 – 24000 EUR
    • The 15 Six G was launched discreetly in June 1938, with its engine turning to the left, hence its name. In June 1947, it was replaced by the 15 Six D, which was fitted with a new gearbox to restore the engine’s right-hand rotation. Acquired in 1989, it was the first car in the collection to be fully restored at that time, and is presented today in its original condition. The bodywork bears a few scars from use, but the overall condition is satisfactory. Inside, the tan skai upholstery, headlining, carpets and dashboard were also restored in the late 1980s. • Estimate: 12000 – 18000 EUR

On the menu: replacement of the chassis and floorboards, full paintwork and a complete overhaul of the interior… and more recently replacement of the wiring harness. During the restoration, the mechanics were also taken from the base: the engine was changed for an equivalent 425 cc, the exhaust was changed, and the brakes and clutch were reworked… All that remains is to complete the lighting system!

    • Estimate: 15000 – 25000 EUR
    • This is one of the last 2 CVs to be registered new in Switzerland and sold by Mr D. to its first owner in 1986. When his customer offered to buy it back in 1989, he couldn’t resist buying it for himself. At the time, it had 31,700 km on the odometer and was in nearnew condition. It had never been repainted and still had all its notebooks and manuals, with its beautiful original interior in blue-jeans fabric. Second-hand, this 2 CV ‘Export’ is in excellent original condition and has less than 32,000 km on the odometer.

This example was delivered new to Zurich, and today has just under 30,000 original km; its manuals and service book (stamped from the outset) are still present! The ‘Bamboo Green’ bodywork shows no notable defects, as does the upholstery, apparently original, in beige fabric. Despite having entered Mr D.’s collection more than 25 years ago, and having covered only a few kilometres, this car is still in good working order, although a service will be required to ensure peace of mind.

    • Estimate: 8000 – 12000 EUR

DS:

  • 1957 DS 19 – Lot 67
    • Estimate: 40000 – 60000 EUR
    • Delivered new in France, its first owner was a forestry expert living in Blessac, near Aubusson in the Creuse region. This example features the same exterior configuration as the model displayed at the 1957 Paris Motor Show — gorgeous Jonquil Yellow paint with a metallic gray roof. The interior boasts the most daring upholstery choice of all, yet now the most coveted by collectors: the Hélanca fabric. Thanks to a copy of its first registration document, we know that its original license plate was 701 AR 23 and that it was later imported to Germany in 1979 before crossing paths with Mr. D. in 2008. According to its current owner, it was never modified or tampered with — making it an ideal restoration candidate, allowing the preservation of its most important interior and exterior components. The restoration, carried out between 2008 and 2009, was nothing short of meticulous. Chassis, bodywork, mechanics, hydraulic system, electrical wiring, cooling system—every detail was addressed with the utmost care. The investments made were extravagant, but for Mr. D., only perfection would suffice. Aesthetically, the paintwork is beautifully applied to the car’s flowing curves, and the upholstery is flawless. Knowledgeable collectors will appreciate all the minute details that distinguish the early DS models: aluminum hood, absence of a push-button trunk release, plexiglass rear window, short fenders, central exhaust, translucent roof, and many more. In excellent condition, its dashboard remains original, featuring the rare ashtray with an integrated clock — an item that very few cars have retained. Converted to “green fluid”, the car was extensively used by Mr. D. in rallies and touring events. It has been displayed at some of the most prestigious automotive gatherings, including: The Concours d’Élégance at the Cité de l’Automobile in Mulhouse, where it won first prize, presented by Flaminio Bertoni himself. The Epoqu’Auto Show in 2012. The Coppet Concours in Switzerland, where Mr. D.’s entire collection received a special award for its diversity and outstanding quality. Sold with its original owner’s manual, a period brochure from the correct model year, an original repair manual, and a 1957 DS19 spare parts catalog, this DS is as complete as it gets.
  • 1958 DS 19 – Lot 68
    • Estimate: 40000 – 60000 EUR
    • It has had only one owner and covered just 68,000 km before being stored in a dry garage in the early 1970s. In 2021, a friend of Mr. D. mentioned this car to him. Initially intrigued but not truly interested – given its similarity to his 1957 DS – he nonetheless went to see it. It wasn’t long before he fell under its spell. The car was simply in an outstanding state of preservation! A complete restoration was undertaken: chassis, bodywork, and mechanics, including a fully rebuilt engine (20704561), a reconditioned gearbox, and an overhauled hydraulic system converted to green fluid for enhanced reliability and longevity. The steering and all suspension components were also fully restored. Importantly, all hydraulic and mechanical parts remained original, and all model-specific components from the early DS series are still present. The entire restoration process is documented in a beautiful album with over 1,000 pictures! A true gem, this example retains its completely original interior and now shows just over 69,000 km on the odometer.
  • 1962 DS 19 «ailes cendriers» (ashtray wings — which allowed hot air to be extracted from the engine hood) – Lot 69
    • Estimate: 40000 – 60000 EUR
    • Delivered new in Switzerland, it was first registered on May 24, 1962, and remained in use until 1981. Mr. D. discovered it in 2014. The car was in completely original condition, showing 20,000 kilometers on the odometer, though he suspects it had likely covered 100,000 more. While the bodywork needed attention, the car had never been modified and had retained its stunning original Jura Green fabric interior. Even rarer, its dashboard was in perfect condition. Notably, this model year introduced the second-generation DS dashboard, marking an important evolution in the car’s history. A full restoration was undertaken, completed in 2015. The car was completely disassembled, from the chassis to the bodywork, leaving no detail overlooked. The engine was fully rebuilt, as was the hydraulic gearbox. The entire hydraulic system was restored and converted to green fluid, ensuring greater reliability and longevity. This is a remarkable and rare example. Distinguished by its vented fenders, it has been extensively displayed at various events and concours, including special showcases at the request of L’Aventure Peugeot Citroën DS
  • 1965 DS 19 Pallas – Lot 70
    • Estimate: 40000 – 60000 EUR
    • Ordered new in this magnificent Rouge Carmin (AC 411) shade, it features a matching deep red Nylon velvet interior. (Only Palladium Gray cars could be ordered with leather upholstery.) Equipped with the hydraulic gearbox and the three-main-bearing engine, this model marked the end of the 400 wheels. Acquired in 2013, the car had been repainted in a gray shade from the period’s color palette. A total restoration was undertaken, from the chassis to the bodywork, where its original color was brought back to life. The mechanical components were fully rebuilt, and while its engine is not the original, it is a correct threemain- bearing engine from the same year. The entire hydraulic system was also redone and converted to green fluid, ensuring greater reliability and longevity. Absolutely stunning in every way, all hydraulic and mechanical components remain original, and every model-specific detail unique to this rare 1965 version is present. The entire restoration is documented in a beautiful album with over 1,000 photos, capturing the car’s journey from its delivery at the garage to its first drive post-restoration.
  • 1967 DS 21 Pallas – Lot 71
    • Estimate: 45000 – 65000 EUR
    • Sold new in France, it was then registered second-hand in the name of a banker operating not far from Zurich. It was in 2017 that Mr D. crossed paths with the car, which then had just 86,500 km and was in excellent original condition with its original leather and carpets. What’s even rarer is that the previous owner had taken care to keep the small havana leather pouch protecting the owner’s manual and the Citroën Switzerland network! Extremely rare. Aware of the nugget he had just acquired, Mr D. undertook an open-ended restoration the following year. The engine was completely rebuilt and converted to unleaded, the entire hydraulic system was new and the gearbox overhauled. Peripheral components such as the wiring harness, alternator and starter motor were replaced. Aesthetically, although the base is excellent, the bodywork has been stripped bare. All the windows are original, as are the exterior fittings. In the cabin, the sublime original havana leather has simply been creased to restore its suppleness, and the original carpets have been cleaned right down to the boot! The dashboard and all the gauges were also cleaned. The result is stunning and exudes quality. Since then, the car has covered just over 3,000 km.
  • 1971 ID 21F Break – 1971 – Lot 72
    • Estimate: 25000 – 45000 EUR
    • The car we are presenting is an ID 21 F from the Bordeaux region, which entered the collection in 2006. Since then, it has undergone a major restoration, from the chassis to the interior, and is now in very good condition. This 7-seater estate has been given a superb shade of Camargue blue, combined with a light grey roof and boot. In the cabin, the upholstery is in beautiful blue velvet. Under the bonnet, the DX2 engine has had a complete overhaul and the manual gearbox has been revised. The hydraulic system has also been restored.
  • DS 23 Pallas – 1974 – Lot 73
    • Estimate: 30000 – 50000 EUR
    • Carbureted version with a five-speed manual gearbox. Delivered new by the Citroën network to a banker in Zurich, it was first registered on May 1, 1974. Meticulously maintained throughout its life, as evidenced by its original service booklet, its first owner was chauffeured daily. In 2000, Mr. D. discovered the car and made an offer to purchase it. With fewer than 70,000 km on the odometer and in perfect working condition, it was an exceptional find. True to his exacting standards, Mr. D. undertook a complete restoration. While no corrosion was present, work began with bodywork refinishing and a full repaint, followed by an extensive mechanical overhaul. The engine and hydraulic system were completely rebuilt, while the car retains its original upholstery and carpets. With just over 75,600 original kilometers, this stunning DS 23 Pallas represents the ultimate refinement of the DS lineage.

  • 1970 M35 Prototype – Lot 82
    • Estimate: 25000 – 35000 EUR
    • The car on offer here is prototype no. 465. Registered on 23 March 1970, it arrived in Switzerland in 1988. With just 23,009 km on the odometer, it’s still in its original condition, but it’s still in pretty good shape. It is still fitted with its original engine and is in good working order.
  • 1971 MEP X27 (single-seater race car (with a GS engine) – Lot 83
    • Estimate: 15000 – 25000 EUR
    • The 22nd of 82 X27s produced, probably initially intended for a driving school, before being acquired by a certain J.-L. Rouaud. It entered the collection of Mr D. in 1989. This is a base model to be restarted or restored. Note in particular that the seat, windscreen and rev counter are not original, nor is the engine (which appears to be a classic GS), and that the gearbox housing was replaced at an unknown time.

SM:

  • 1970 SM (the 39th Citroën SM produced and the first to arrive in Switzerland) – Lot 74
    • Estimate: 60000 – 80000 EUR
    • One of the pre-production examples assembled at Ligier, all destined for hand-picked customers. Its first owner, Mr Morel, worked to promote the best French wines at the 1970 Universal Exhibition in Osaka. In gratitude, the French government gave him one of the first SMs to be made. He will take possession of a superb metallic sand car on 12 October 1970. The story doesn’t end there, because in 1973 its current owner, then an apprentice at the Piller SA workshop in Fribourg, had the privilege of working on the car. It was love at first sight, and he promised himself that one day it would be his. In 2001, Mr Morel decided to sell it, so he seized the opportunity and welcomed the beautiful car into his collection. At the time, the car was not running, and a major restoration programme was launched to restore it to its former glory. The bodywork was completely restored and painted to match the original, while the engine was given a complete overhaul. Today, the car is in an excellent state of preservation, with its original interior magnificently preserved, its leather with a delightful patina and its car radio still present.

    • Originally from France, this example was imported into Switzerland in 2006. It underwent a major restoration costing over €26,000. The two-tone bodywork was repainted and the upholstery restored. A number of mechanical parts have also been replaced. With just 39,106 km on the odometer, its mechanicals have been made reliable and are now in very good working order.

CX:

  • 1978 CX 2400 GTI – Lot 75
    • Estimate: 30000 – 50000 EUR
    • Delivered new in Switzerland on 12 April 1978, this Largentière grey example had 2 owners before joining the collection in 2007, when it clocked up 139,000 km. It then underwent a major restoration between 2008 and 2010. The mechanical and hydraulic systems were completely overhauled, and the chassis was given an anti-corrosion treatment. The bodywork has been repainted in the mythical Mandarine hue emblematic of the period, and is superb. The cabin features the two-tone leather upholstery typical of early GTIs, combined with beige carpets and a grey roof lining. All in very good condition. The car also features air conditioning, an interesting option at the time. More than 10,000 km have been driven in this car since its restoration, and it took part in the ICCR rallies in England in 2012 and Holland in 2016.
  • 1980 CX Prestige 2400 IE – Lot 76
    • Estimate: 20000 – 30000 EUR

It entered the collection in 1989 with 96,000 km on the odometer. This CX Prestige has a statutory configuration with a metallic green-grey body combined with a black vinyl roof. There are a few traces of corrosion at the bottom of the doors and on the rocker panels. In the cabin, the tan upholstery is well preserved, as are the headlining and carpets. A telephone was installed in the rear for the use of its first owner. Under the bonnet is the CX GTI’s 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. With 101,500 km on the odometer, this car has been regularly serviced and its hydraulic system overhauled.

BX:

  • 1986 BX 4 TC – Lot 84
    • Estimate: 100000 – 150000 EUR
    • It was sold new by the Export Department of the Citroën Champ de Mars dealership in Paris on 22 April 1986 to its first owner, a Swiss man who made little use of it, displayed it in his personal garage and… didn’t register it! 100% original, never modified, and still bearing the various specific details often missing from other models, Mr D. bought it 2nd hand in 2007, when the car had clocked up 2,800 km. It now has 2,865 km on the odometer. It’s still in stunning condition, but we’re dealing with a car that’s barely left the dealership. It has recently had a general overhaul and an injection tune-up, after being duly registered in Switzerland.

    • Estimate: 8000 – 12000 EUR
    • Sold on 15 March 1988 by the Zeder garage in the Neuchâtel region to a representative of the Caran d’Ache company who kept it until 2010, when he drove it over 220,000 km before selling it to a neighbouring collector. It finally entered the collection in 2014. With 240,000 km on the odometer, this BX GTI 16 has always been well looked after, as its service booklet and its invoices attest. The Meije white bodywork is fairly well preserved, although there are a few scars from heavy use. The interior, which is entirely original, has also been well preserved, and is equipped with an electric sunroof.

Visa:

  • 1983 Visa Club – Lot 79
    • Estimate: 3000 – 5000 EUR
    • Registered on April 15, 1983, this Citroën Visa Club is equipped with a 652 cc engine and has only 88,368 original kilometers. Produced in late 1981, it was treated with Dinitrol upon delivery to better resist corrosion. Forty years later, this Visa looks as good as new! Completely original, this is a second-owner vehicle that has retained its original paint. Upon purchase, Mr. D. carried out a mechanical inspection and checked the suspension. The braking system is brand new, as well as the clutch. The exhaust system was also recently replaced.
  • 1984 Visa 1000 Pistes – Lot 85
    • Estimate: 50000 – 70000 EUR
    • This 1000 Pistes has a singular history, since it was acquired in Paris in 1985 by a Swiss collector wishing to exhibit it in his museum. It was only 20 years later, in 2005, that its current owner took possession of it. Having spent its life in two static collections, it has hardly been driven and has never even been registered. With just 193 km on the odometer, it has been pampered all its life and is now in incredible condition. Absolutely original, the bodywork is superb, the interior is immaculate and all the factory markings and stickers are still present. A veritable time machine, it’s worth noting that its mechanicals were put back into operation when it was purchased in 2005.

XM:

  • 1990 XM V6 – Lot 93
    • Estimate: 5000 – 8000 EUR
    • Sold by the Appollo dealership in Neuchâtel on 21 August 1990, this phase 1 model had only one owner until 2016, when it entered the collection. By then, it had only been used during the summer season. Its pearl grey bodywork is in a beautiful state of preservation, with only the wheel rims having been restored in 2019. Inside, the thick, comfortable velvet upholstery is characteristic of the model. With just 58,200 km, it comes with a service booklet and an emissions certificate attesting to its low mileage. Under the bonnet, the 170 hp V6 PRV is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Regularly maintained, it is in good working order.

    • The Activa system first appeared on the Xantia in 1994, and enables the car to maintain a constant ride height. As a result, the car turns flat in bends and remains comfortable and supple in a straight line. Sold new in Geneva on 24 July 1995, this car had 2 owners before joining the collection in 2011. With 210,000 km on the odometer, this car is in satisfactory condition. It is accompanied by its owner’s manual and maintenance booklet, attesting to regular servicing. Its cherry-red bodywork bears some of the scars of its use. Inside, the black leather upholstery and grey carpets are fairly well preserved. Under the bonnet is a robust 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 150 hp, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This is the engine most commonly found in Xantia Activa models.
