Finished in green with a black interior and fitted with the 1.9-liter engine and 4-speed manual transmission.
My wife and I purchased the car in 2024 after it had been sitting since 2006. Prior to that, it had reportedly undergone a restoration that included paint, interior work, and an engine rebuild. Sadly, the previous owner suffered a stroke shortly afterward, and the car was left parked and unused.
Since purchasing it, we have spent time bringing it back to life and getting it running again after its long storage.
The engine now runs and idles, and it has approximately 2,000 miles since the rebuild. That said, this is still a project that needs finishing. The car is not currently sorted and will require various small jobs to get it properly ready for the road.
Cosmetically, it would benefit from some interior work and likely a respray, depending on the next owner’s standards.
This is a good opportunity to acquire a very honest and increasingly desirable Citroën D-Special with major restoration work already started, including the rebuilt engine, while leaving room for the next owner to complete the final sorting and cosmetic improvement.
A rare and distinctive classic with timeless styling, innovative engineering, and excellent potential.
