Four Citroëns will be auctioned by Artcurial on Jan 27, 2026 as part of their Automobile Legends sale at the Peninsula Paris during Rétromobile. They include;

  • a rare 1964 DS19 Le Dandy by Henri Chapron
  • an exceptionally restored 1972 SM
  • an equally nice restored 1973 DS 23ie Pallas
  • a highly original and beautifully preserved 1987 CX 25 GTI Turbo II

Lot 11

1964 DS 19 Le Dandy by Henri Chapron

Estimate: €170,000 – 230,000

Chassis No: 4294003, Engine No: 0214006387

This Le Dandy coupe is exceptional in so many ways. Firstly, this version is extremely rare as it is one of only 22 examples produced on the DS 19 chassis with the so-called ‘streamlined’ rear wings. Secondly, it has an exceptional history file, ranging from correspondence between Chapron and the dealer who accompanied his customer to the 1964 Paris Motor Show to place the order. Its first owner (a resident of Saint Raphaël) opted for a model with a lowered windscreen and streamlined wings. It was delivered in December 1964 and remained with its owner on the French Riviera until 1982 when it was passed on to his grandson who had a full restoration carried out, including repainting it in its original colour. After 61 years in same family, it was purchased by a Chapron collector in 2020. The current owner (a renowned specialist in the model) was able to acquire it in 2024 years ago and fully serviced it to ensure optimal working order. Original invoices, service notes in the logbook and old roadworthiness test certificates attest to the 105,700 km original mileage.

Lot 9

1972 SM
Estimate: €60,000 – 80,000 — No reserve

Chassis no: 00SB5531

This carburettor-engined SM left the factory in 1972 and was imported into Sweden in 1977 by a resident of Simrishamn. It changed hands in 1989 and in 2016 underwent a complete restoration to an unusually high standard by a Swedish SM specialist. He succeeded in obtaining a new bare shell, which Citroën offered from stock left over after production came to an end. With the approval of the Swedish authorities, the chassis ID 00SB5531 was transferred to the new bodyshell. The restorer paid attention to every detail, using new old stock body parts, with the exception of the tailgate. The body was painted in original colour ‘Vert des Tropiques’ (AC 525), and a tobacco-coloured leather interior fitted. The engine was completely rebuilt, with high-compression forged pistons and more reliable timing gear; the gearbox was overhauled and the differential gears were replaced. The hydraulic system, running gear and air-conditioning all received the same attention. The odometer was reset to zero when the restoration was completed and is now reading 3,998 km. The car’s current owner, a demanding enthusiast, bought the car in 2023 and has since fitted electronic ignition, a modern alternator and a passenger door mirror. It now has a Belgian title.

Lot 10

1973 DS 23ie Pallas
Estimate: €50,000 – 80,000 — No reserve

Chassis No: 01FG7771

This DS 23 with electronic fuel injection was delivered new in Italy and then imported to Switzerland in 2011. It has had only two owners. In 2015 it underwent a complete high quality restoration by Citroën specialist Vincent Crescia. Garage du Lac, near Neufchâtel, Switzerland at a cost of 160,665 Swiss francs. Fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox and air conditioning it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful DS23ie Pallas models in existence.

Lot 21

1987 CX 25 GTI Turbo II
Estimate: €30,000 – 50,000 — No reserve

Chassis No: VF7MANK0003NK2889

This top of the line CX was purchased new from the Citroen dealership in Saint-Etienne by its first owner and registered on October 20,1987. The second and current owner of this CX, Matthieu Lamoure, purchased it in 2017 after a good ten years of searching. Arriving at the Salon L’Epoque Auto show on a day when it was being set up for display, he spotted the rare factory sunroof and upon further scrutiny, discovered that this car met all his criteria. He bought it immediately with only 70,000 km on the clock. It now has 10,000 more after being used several times over eight years for family holidays and various trips. It comes with its original Citroën kit containing manuals, service logbooks and servicing invoices, the last of which was carried out at Daunat Classique for €3,500. Advertising brochures from that era will also be included. Only 5,000 CX GTI Turbo II examples were built out of the million CXs manufactured between 1974 and 1989. So, finding one with all the original options, only two previous owners (the first of whom owned it for 30 years), with a low mileage, and still accompanied by its original manuals and logbooks, is virtually impossible today.
