By George Dyke….
Perfect weather helped make our 2024 Citroën Autoclub Canada outing on July 20 to Ontario’s Niagara wine region a success.
We met at 10 am at Chris Deja’s home in Oakville where she had prepared a lovely start-off breakfast to satisfy our appetites before out first winery stop.

Participants in our drive this year were; Chris Deja, Larry Lewis, Elanor & Damian Damjan, Sietse & Nicole Elsina, Gord Linkletter & Fanney, George Klein, Leszek Krawczyk, Irena & Robert Kulik-Zmyslowski, Steve Loria, James & Diana May, Zikko Mallah, John & Tracy Meurs, Andreja & Senen Racki, and Roland Voegele & Franziska.
After lining up our cars in front of her house for a photo op, we headed out on a 2.5 hour drive that took us along some of Southern Ontario’s nicest country back-roads, avoiding all the traffic that people typically experience trying to get to Niagara from Oakville (just west of Toronto).
Our first stop was Fielding Estates Winery we we had arranged for charcuterie lunch menu and a 90-minute rest.
From there we came back toward Stoney Creek on Ridge Rd, along the upper edge of the Niagara escarpment, and dropped down to Lake Ontario level on the rather twisty Fifty Rd stopping in a Leaning Post Winery for our final afternoon tasting.
From there we called it a day with some of us going back through Burlington and stopping for dinner at Piper Arms Pub.
All in all – a great day that truly couldn’t have gone better!
