By George Dyke….

As we have done for the past decade, Citroën Autoclub Canada ventured to the Niagara Region on July 19, 2025 for our annual summer outing.

The weather was perfect for a day that began at Chris Deja’s in Oakville, where we gathered for a breakfast snack.  Our route to Niagara took us along Lakeshore Rd and the opulent homes heading toward Burlington.  We did experience heavy traffic driving toward the lift bridge into Hamilton harbour, but it was clear sailing as we headed across Hamilton on Centennial Parkway up to Ridge Rd where we stopped to admire the view back towards Toronto before continuing along Ridge Rd and eventually working our way over to lunch at Citroenvie members Petra and Sietse Elsinga’s lovely home in Lincoln.

After lunch, we visited 3 nearby wineries, Niagara Crush Winery (an intriguing place that offers a selection of wines from smaller producers). Featherstone Estates Winery (where we enjoyed the shade on their newly constructed veranda) and then on to Sue-Ann Staff Estate Winery.

We then toured around our favourite backroads of the Niagara region near Effingham before heading back toward Hamilton.

Along the way, I spotted some kids bouncing on a trampoline who stopped and waved at us with such enthusiasm that I stopped to discover that they were part of an event being held at Urban Tractor Farm Winery.  The owners had organized a fundraiser BBQ for their son who is going to school in Alberta to become a missionary pilot.  It was his lucky day because he got to speak with Marc Moullard in our group who is a pilot with Air Canada.  Marc joined his wife on our outing mid-afternoon after flying back to Toronto from Dublin that morning!   We were all invited to partake in the BBQ dinner and answered the many questions folks had about the 2CVs that had remained on the tour until the end of the day.

Once again a memorable event, made even more so by spontaneity!

A big thank-you goes to Chris, Petra and Sietse for their hospitality!
