Frank Locker, the current owner and restorer of “Crocolion” a one of a kind twin engine Citroën rally car built in France by the late Jack Hannon, reports to us that it made a good showing at Lime Rock at the “Sunday in the Park Concours & Gathering of the Marques” event on September 2. He brought it to Rendezvous at Saratoga Springs, NY this year in near final form, but it was Lime Rock that was Frank’s target for a formal debut.
Though it did not win an official award at Lime Rock, Frank says it could easily have won the prize for the “largest and most continuous crowd of curious people” if that had been offered. To quote Frank; “I told the story and recited the specs thousands of times from 9:00 to 3:00. Phwew!”
In short, people were crazy about the car. The photos of the event that you see here were taken by the former New York Times motorsports correspondent, Mercedes Benz USA motorsports director, and general manager at Lime Rock Park, so he knows a few people. He posted a single photo on his Facebook page and received 100 comments/likes within 8 hours, all on a holiday weekend!
Frank will be interviewed by Road & Track magazine and expects the article to appear soon in their on-line magazine. The writer (also at Lime Rock) was ga-ga over the car.
Frank is also trying arrange an audio interview with Jack Hanon’s widow who lives in Montreal. He hopes she will be helpful knowing what races it won, what kind of cars it competed with, and whether there were any similar made/raced. We will keep you posted on that.
