Former Mullin DS 21 Cabriolet to be auctioned at Pebble Beach
On August 14, 2025, Broad Arrow Auctions will be selling a 1969 Citroën DS 21 Chapron Cabriolet that once resided in the collection of the late Peter Mullin at the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, CA. The museum is now closed and most the vehicles were auctioned off last year, including this Citroën which at the time sold for $291,000 USD.

Broad Arrow is estimating the selling price this time to be between $200,000 – $300,000 USD.
A Henri Chapron Certificate produced by Noëlle-Eléonore Chapron (daughter of Henri Chapron) reveals this special order DS 21 Cabriolet de Série was originally ordered by Citroën to Henri Chapron located just outside of Paris proper in Levallois, France in mid-December 1968. The car was originally finished by Chapron in Black over a Black leather interior and came with a rare factory-fitted body-colored hardtop. After returning to the Citroën Javel factory for technical adjustments and fitting of the chassis plate, chassis number 4635279 was delivered to “Cité de l’ Auto” located in Troyes, France.
At one point it is noted the DS Cabriolet was under the care of an individual in the Grand-Est region of France. It eventually found its way into the esteemed collection of the late Peter Mullin and underwent a full and comprehensive restoration in a spectacular shade of light metallic blue over an interior upholstered in the exterior body color.
An inspection of the cabriolet by Noëlle-Eléonore Chapron reveals the correct “93” Chapron body number stamps on the parts attaching the front fenders to the chassis.
