We are saddened to report the passing of a key enthusiast in the global Citroën community. Stephen Paul Le Roux, founder of the Citroën Car Club of South Africa succumbed to a lingering case of pneumonia according to his wife Joyce.
In 1978 Stephen saw a Traction Avant in Vereeniging and left a note for the owner (Johan Meyer) to contact him. With a response from Johan the Citroën Car Club of South Africa was born and the first meeting was held at Plot 8 Apple Orchards with Stephen, Johan and four other members; James McRae, Richard Staniforth, Eddie van Vuuren, and Anton van der Merwe.

Embracing all models of Citroëns in South Africa, the Club grew in leaps and bounds in the 1980s and Stephen helped many Citroënthusiasts gain knowledge of their cars and Citroën heritage.
Stephen was not only noted for his collection of cars but also his Citroën junkyard in Walkerville. He helped Citroënvie member Loren Gifford in the USA find a lovely Traction Light 15 and did extensive work on it prior to its shipment to the USA.
Stephen will be sorely missed by the entire Citroën community in South Africa and beyond.
There will be a memorial service at the Citroën Car Club of South Africa clubhouse/museum on Sunday July 30, 2023.
