Keeping your Citroën clean (especially a black Traction Avant) can be a chore. The engineers at Nissan figured that if an oven can clean itself, why not a car? They set out to incorporate an innovative paint technology that repels mud, rain and everyday dirt, meaning drivers may never have to clean their car again.
They demonstrate their achievement in this video showcasing the European Note hatchback. According to Nissan, the “super-hydrophobic” and “oleophobic” paint creates a protective layer of air between the paint and the environment and stops standing water and spray from adhering to and marking the car’s surface. But Nissan says there are no current plans for the paint to be applied as a standard option, however the company will consider the coating for future models.

Want it now? The coating is called Ultra-Ever Dry and it is sold through UltraTech International Inc. However if you visit their website (https://www.spillcontainment.com/everdry) they say “For industrial use only. Not available to consumers at this time”.
Too bad. Our Tractions are going to have to look shabby a little while longer…
