In a sea of new cars and high end classics on display at the 2016 Toronto International Auto Show, a little 2CV was tucked away in the corner garnering admiring glances. It was there as part of the ‘AutoShow Your Auto Contest’ where car enthusiasts submitted their most prized cars for a chance to have them featured on the show floor.
The top 5 cars were then put on display and left up to an attendee vote to pick the winner. This 1974 CV belonging to Sebastien Lagourgue in Toronto made 3rd place among hundreds of entries. Online voting combined with an Auto Show judging panel determined the Top Five Finalists, which were:
- Les Tokar, 2015 Corvette Z06
- Mike Livia, 1936 Ford Pickup ‘Copperhead’
- Sebastien Lagourgue, 1974 Citroen 2CV
- Sagi Marisi, 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1
- Daniella Sementilli, 2011 Ford Mustang GT
Each of the five finalists had a custom video segment produced that was shown at the exhibit.
Sebastien Lagourgue expounds about the 2CV in the video produced for the show.
Unfortunately (for Sebastien) the 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was voted to be the favourite by attendees at the show and so it won the Grand Prize of $5,000!
Nevertheless, it was nice exposure for the Citroen marque in Toronto and hopefully it will make the 2CV even more recognizable as we bring our cars back out on the streets once the winter road salt washes off.
