Citroën Autoclub Canada’s annual Spring Outing took on a new route this year through the Caledon hills just northwest of Toronto. Although it rained all day, that didn’t stop 18 Club members from participating in the drive and stopping to enjoy a delicious lunch at the Caledon Inn.
The drive started at 10:30 am on May 23 in Richmond Hill for those coming from downtown Toronto or east of the city and 12 noon in Bolton for folks coming from points north and west.
Despite the weather forecast calling for “windy and cool with periods of rain” and some members deciding to bring their daily drivers rather than a Citroën, we still had a 2CV, Ami 6, GS and a SM turn out for the outing.

In fact, we had the rare opportunity to compare the lines of a 1st generation Honda Insight that Victor Alksnis brought to those of Tony Burgess’ SM. Its very evident that Honda were influenced by the SM when they were designing the aerodynamic efficient body of the Insight.

After lunch we traveled along gorgeous country roads, some hilly and twisty, to just south of Orangeville before heading back toward King City, where we officially ended the drive.

It still turned out the be a fun day. Certainly not too hot and at least we weren’t baking in the sun!
