The US -> Canada -> US cross-country 2CV Great Road Trip, raising awareness for Kennedy’s Disease, and featured in the Feb. 13 Citroënvie article, “2CV Drive of a Lifetime,”  is now somewhere on the US East Coast.  Here’s a look at their stop in Dallas, originally meant to include a media day, but plans changed – to an engine R&R and an extra day in town for a car show.  That sounds like even more fun.

Citroën specialist Rob Courter hosted the crew and opened his shop in north Dallas after an engine seal was spotted leaking.  On such a long trek, prompt repairs are good insurance.

Drivers Darren and Jacob Arthur got cracking, and in a mere four hours, with parts supplied by Rob from his growing inventory at Javel, pulled the Deux engine and replaced the seal.

With the hood and wings removed, the 2CV is a model of engine accessibility.

Of course, every 2CV tool kit needs a 2×4, as chase car driver Dave Myers from Newcastle, Australia shoves it in place as prescribed by all tech manuals.  Dave’s Tour was even longer, beginning with a 30-hour fly-drive trip from Sydney to San Francisco and Los Angeles, then down the coast to San Diego for a rendezvous with Darren and Jacob.

When in Texas, a BBQ trip is always on schedule, of course to the World’s Best BBQ, Hutchins in Frisco (and McKinney),
here enjoyed by Dave, Jacob, and local Citroënvie member Bob Hutchins (no relation, sad to say).

The Tour stop happily coincided with the All-British and European Car Show at White Rock Lake in Dallas.  The crew kindly removed the 2CV seats for a more relaxing lunch in the welcome shade.
