Two DS’, two SMs and a Méhari will cross the auction block in two auctions at Amelia Island next week.
Broad Arrow Auctions (owned by Hagerty) will be selling this 1973 SM on Friday March 7.
The estimate is between $65,000 – $85,000 and it is being offered without reserve.

Early service records indicate that it belonged to a Mr. Don Fraser of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, in the late 1970s. The car’s next documented Canadian owner was a Mr. W. Gollmar, a resident of Kamloops, and it remained within the Gollmar family for nearly two decades. The car then entered the United States, with its first documented American owner being Robert Cox of Alexandria, Virginia, who commissioned extensive service to get the car running in early 2004.
In 2016, after coming out of long term storage, the SM underwent a six-year restoration for the current owner at Excelsior Motors Inc. in Kentucky. Work included a complete rebuild of the 2.7L Maserati V6 featuring new bearings, gaskets, and rebuilt cylinder heads, paired with the installation of a desirable five-speed manual conversion kit. The hydraulic system was thoroughly renewed with rebuilt rear suspension, rebuilt spheres, and renewed consumables. A European-specification headlights were installed along with a new wiring harness. The air conditioning system was overhauled along with various other items. Cosmetically it was resprayed in period correct metallic green, while the interior received new brown leather upholstery, headliner, soundproofing, and complete carpet set. Completed in 2022, the project ultimately exceeded $100,000 invested, with an extensive file of receipts chronicling the work from beginning to end on file and available for review.
The four Citroëns will all be offered without reserve by Gooding & Company on March 6 – 7:
1957 DS19
$40,000 – $60,000 | Without Reserve

1968 DS21
$30,000 – $40,000 | Without Reserve

Equipped with rare, period-correct Air-conditioning.
East Coast Rendezvous, and Carlisle attendees may recognize this DS21 as Peter Bandy’s from Detroit. It won best late model DS at Rendezvous in Saratoga Spings, NY in 2016.
1973 SM (fuel Injection)
$60,000 – $80,000 | Without Reserve

Judging by the yellow side lights in the front fenders and the rear license plate mounting holes, this SM appears to have been imported from Italy.
1978 Méhari
$25,000 – $35,000 | Without Reserve

Prices on these items will no doubt be under pressure as Aguttes will be auctioning 40 Citroëns (many of which are in pristine condition), in Paris on March 16.
