Look what happened yesterday to this pristine 2CV Truckette in Florida when a strong gust of wind blew the front door back. It was one of those events where it only took a split second and BAM! — the damage was done.

Fortunately in this case it will only be a door replacement as the door “hinge channel” on the body does not appear to be damaged.

Once again, we can’t emphasize enough about holding on to a 2CV door when you open it outdoors. We mentioned this in our 2CV Upkeep Tips article where we said:

“2CV doors are fragile and the front hinges on later models even more so. It is always a good move to hold onto the door when opening it, so that it won’t blow open in the wind. The A pillar will twist if the front door catches a wind gust. You definitely don’t want that to happen. In fact, a good rule of thumb is to park into the wind whenever possible. (Unless you are getting out of an early 2CV with reverse opening front doors).”

Lesson learned — the hard way!
