AMI[for]ALL — Mobility for people with disabilities

Launched in 2023, Citroën’s Ami is proving the be a wonderful urban vehicle for people with disabilities. For 45 years, Pimas in France has been creating and developing driving aids solutions and products for people with restricted mobility. Teaming up with Citroën, they are offering an innovative transformation of the Ami that adapts the affordable, license-free electric quadracycle for people with disabilities.

The doors of all electric Ami models open 90° for easy access.

Pimas adds an integrated transfer board, a push-pull system for accelerating and braking, a steering wheel knob, and space to put a wheelchair on the passenger seat or outside, if the seat is occupied.

The project came about from an idea of a Stellantis employee, made possible by an internal program that encourages everyone to innovate and imagine useful solutions for the benefit of all. “Here, as soon as an engineer has an idea, regardless of their position in the company, they join the Start*up program,” explains Alain Le Gouguec, Future Product Manager at Citroën. ‘This employee wanted to make mobility even more inclusive. From there, we built a real and concrete project that lasted nine months, from the initial idea to the sale of the vehicle.”

“We underestimate the impact of mobility on the social inclusion of people who are currently facing difficulties,” insists Alain Le Gouguec. “With AMI[for] ALL, the goal was to broaden the offering by truly adapting it to the needs of people with reduced mobility, so that they can get around independently.”

For as little as €3.600 over the cost of the Ami, the AMI[for]ALL arrives ready to drive, fully adapted to the needs of its future driver. And the modification is easily reversible, enabling the Ami to return to original factory specifications.
