HISTORY

In the late 1950s, Mr. Mismaque wanted to create the lightest French sports car. Drawing on his experience as an engineer at Bugatti, he opened a workshop and developed a coachbuilding business to finance his grand dream.

After numerous sketches on paper, some of which have survived to this day, after many scale models, after optimizing a tubular chassis, and after learning about bodywork and polyester, Mr. Mismaque presented the Squal at the 1959 Paris Motor Show.

He produced about ten chassis and fitted them with two slightly different bodies. Only a handful of them survive. One of them, exported to the United States and meticulously restored, won the most prestigious concours d’élégance. The Quail – Pebble Beach – Monterey Car’s week in 2022.

Mr. Mismaque will offer two engine options with this car, from Citroën and Simca.

SQUAL #06C

Assembled in 1960 and originally equipped with a 425cc Citroën engine, our Squal has recently been completely rebuilt with great care, respecting Mr. Mismaque’s preferred body style. The latter, although very elderly, came to see the restorer’s work and approved it. On this occasion, he entrusted him with numerous documents.

CONDITION

  • Chassis completely refurbished
  • Bodywork fully rebuilt and painted to a high standard of quality
  • Coral Color chosen by the brand’s founder
  • Interior true to the original, incorporating the Mismaque design bucket seats
  • Mechanically, the 425 is original, with the option of choosing a period-correct engine, a 533cc, or a modern 602cc.
