2025 will be a year of celebration about legacy of the Citroën company: Here is a list of the major milestones the be acknowledged this year and their dates:
* March 17, 1915 (110 YEARS): Purchase of a plot of land in Javel (15th district of Paris) for the construction of an industrial production plant, in record time (4 months), in the middle of World War I. The factory was converted in 1918 to produce vehicles in large numbers from June 1919. (NB: The site is now known as Parc André Citroën).
* June 15, 1915 (110 YEARS): Start of the massive production of munitions (which the French army so desperately needed).
* June 26, 1925 (100 YEARS): Arrival of LA CROISIÈRE NOIRE (also known as the “Citroën Centre-Afrique Expedition”) in Cape Town (South Africa), after crossing all of Africa from Colomb-Béchar (Algeria) on October 28, 1924, covering more than 18,000 KM with their half-track vehicles.
* July 03, 1935 (90 YEARS): DEATH OF company founder André Citroën (at the age of 57).
* July 4, 1925 (100 YEARS): The name “CITROËN” appears on the entire height of the Eiffel Tower (from the 2nd floor), day and night (thanks to an innovative lighting system) and remains there until 1934. The highest advertisement in history…
* In addition — two other anniversaries concerning exceptional creations of the Citroën company (after the time of André Citroën):
– October 6, 1955 (70 YEARS): The mythical and revolutionary “Citroën DS” is presented at the Paris Motor Show. (Several major celebrations will be dedicated to it in France, starting with the Retromobile show in February 2025 and also elsewhere).
– March 3, 2005 (20 YEARS): Presentation of the magnificent “Citroën C6”.
