By Greg Long….

Jay Leno came over to my Citroën DS Chapron convertible at a recent car show and asked if I wanted to bring the car and be on his show. I pretty quickly said Yup!

I told the producer about my brother giving me his first car, a ‘61 ID19 sedan for my 15th birthday. John was heading off to hitchhike around Europe and the car didn’t work anymore.

This is 1974 so the car really wasn’t that old but had been around the block a few too many times. Great bones and complete but the engine was stuck, interior full of water, etc. I took the engine apart with no skills to speak of, got it running and it was my car up until I lived in Whistler, BC in 1983. And, as you can see, John got it back decades ago and still drives it weekly in Santa Barbara.

Jay’s producer loved the idea of getting both cars and John and I on the show. Total fun filming with the crew at Jay’s enormous garage filled with basically everything cool.

Jay and took the convertible for a fairly long drive around Burbank with me and he loved it.

The show should air in June on Jay Leno’s Garage. Can’t wait!
