Looking for challenging winter project? Why not consider resuscitating a Citroën Méhari? The trick is to find one that’s not too far gone. Sorting out the frame and running gear is the same as restoring a 2CV. Not a big deal but you will also have to bringing the ABS (ping pong ball material) body back to presentable condition, and ensure the body support structure underneath is intact. There are suppliers for virtually all the Méhari parts, unless you are tackling a US spec model of which only 214 were made. (They have a unique unique front end; The headlights sit higher and protrude into the hood to conform headlight height requirements in the USA at the time.)
Here are 2 photo galleries of 2 different Méhari restorations;
One is from Patrick van Griethuysen of The Netherlands featuring a Series 1 European spec model: https://www.camerama.demon.nl/harr/index.html (Dutch text)
The other an extensive photo documentation from Michael Klun on the Canadian Prairies showing the completion of a rare US spec model from 2 donor cars: https://flic.kr/s/aHsknxZkv7
Most impressive end results in both cases!
