If you are a bit bummed that you weren’t the successful bidder for the gorgeous 2CV Sahara that sold for just £62,000 at the April 1 CCA Practical Classics auction in Birmingham, UK, Citroënvie subscriber Mick Popka sent us info on another 2CV Sahara in England that is rather enticing in it’s own right.
This one is a reproduction Sahara built for the 1985 2CV “Raid Australia” by aircraft engineer Rene Goedel of Zotermeer in The Netherlands. Instead of the original’s 375 cc engines, both have been replaced by 652 cc Visa engines. That makes for a huge difference in power and practical drive-ability.
What also unusual about the car is that it is Right Hand Drive.
After circumnavigating Australia twice, (it also participated in the 1996 2CV “Raid Australia”), it became available for sale in 2012 ans is now in the UK at Graham Morton’s Garage in Holmbridge, Huddersfield. Arguably the most practical 2 engine 2CV, if not totally original, Mick say’s that Graham is open to offers for this 2CV Sahara look-alike.
