Citroën DS Break on the Price is Right

Back in the early 1960s, Citroën Cars Corporation in the USA made some bold mainstream marketing moves. One activity was to give away a DS Break on a popular TV game show.

The Price Is Right is an American television game show that originally ran from 1956–1965 where contestants compete by guessing the prices of merchandise to win cash and prizes. A 1972 revival by Bob Stewart, Mark Goodson, and Bill Todman of their 1956–1965 show of the same name, starred Bob Barker who hosted it until his retirement in June 2007. The show is still on the air today hosted by Drew Carey who took over from Bob Barker.

Chris Dubuque discovered this The Price is Right segment from September 1960 with Bill Cullen as host preserved on YouTube:

  1. Great to see what the original East Coast price of a new Citroen DS station wagon was in the early 1970s.
