As part of the celebrations this week of the 60th anniversary of the Citroën DS, the new DS brand will introduce its exclusive new limited edition “1955” developed in tribute to the legendary sedan.
“For the DS brand built today, we draw on our unique heritage, that of a legendary car carrying values of innovation, excellence and pioneering, values that we made ours,” said Yves Bonnefont, CEO of DS brand.
The DS3, DS3 Cabrio, DS4 and new DS 5 will be produced in special editions monikered “1955”. These will be available in limited quantities in each model; Production of the DS3 and DS3 Cabrio “1955” will in fact be limited to 1955 copies, while 955 copies of the DS4 and the new DS5 will each offered.
These different models and their characteristics will be presented exclusively as part of “DS Week” at the Tuileries garden on May 23 and 24, before being made available for customer orders in late May.
Citroën did something similar with the original DS when they offered the “Jubiliee” edition as a tribute to the 15th anniversary of the DS during the 1972 model year. Most of these cars were painted Gris Nacre (AC 095). According to Olivier de Serres in his book “DS Le Grand Livre”, there was also a grey version of this special edition model, i.e. cars that were ordered with a grey interior came with a dashboard that was partly grey.
Can you guess which tribute DS we’d rather have?
