Citroënvie member in France, Ronald Kienhuis, received this poster from the same garage that gave him a large Citroën sign they no longer needed when Citroën introduced their updated logo. Ronald never really looked at the poster until the other day when he wanted to hang it in his garage.

It was then that he noticed that the images of some of the cars do not represent the year. For example; the Traction Avant (with the boot trunk lid) is from at least 1953, not 1934, and that 2CV must be at least 1966, not 1948 (as it has the 3rd side window and non-ripple bonnet front end). The others seemed OK.

Most likely the marketing folks in Citroën were just trying to show the overall shape and not really worrying about the exact model relative to the year of introduction, but still — you would think that they would make the effort to show the proper model year.

We did a little digging to try and determine the extent of their boo-boo. it seems the poster was created back in 2019 as part of their “Origins” campaign of that era.  Here is a pic we found of the full poster:

Citroën’s “Origins 1919” campaign (and Citroën Origins virtual museum) was launched in 2016.  Since the 2019 C5 Aircross is the latest model shown on the poster, we think its a safe bet that it was created for the brand’s 100th Anniversary in 2019.

There is also this photo we came across of a different layout of the same poster elements, tagged as taken at Salon Rétromobile 2019 Paris Expo – Porte de Versailles, Paris on February 7, 2019.

Yeah, they definitely should have known better than to release these posters with those errors.
