Stellantis announced today that Thierry Koskas is appointed Citroën brand CEO and Stellantis Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, effective March 1, 2023 and that Vincent Cobée has decided to pursue personal projects outside the company.
According to the company the appointment comes in light of the growing challenges related to the accessibility of electrified mobility for customers and the arrival of new entrants to the automotive market. Building on previous experience as a brand commercial director, Koskas will take responsibility for the Citroën brand to leverage the potential of the Citroën brand in Europe and in the world.
Koskas will also continue in his role as Stellantis’ Chief Sales & Marketing Officer reporting directly to Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares.
Carlos Tavares said: “I have full confidence in Thierry Koskas to carry out these strategic and valuable missions for our company, so that Stellantis can lead the way the market moves, while developing the iconic Citroën brand. Thierry’s dual responsibility is part of a logic of cross-functionality, as is already the case for other EVPs within the Stellantis leadership team. I would like to thank Vincent Cobée for having set the positioning of Citroën within the Stellantis brand portfolio and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
This is the fourth CEO the Citroën brand has had under Tavares role as CEO, first of Groupe PSA and then Stellantis in January 2021, that came about from the merger of Groupe PSA and FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles). Shortly after Tavares, a former Renault executive, took over Groupe PSA from former Peugeot CEO Philippe Varin in 2014 he appointed Frederic Banzet as Citroën’s chief. Linda Jackson, now CEO of the Peugeot brand in Stellantis, replaced Banzet as CEO of Citroën June 2014. Jackson was supplanted by Vincent Cobée on January 15, 2020.
