In Memoriam – Walter Escherich (1965 – 2018)

We regretfully announce the passing of Walter (Wally) Mason Escherich, a long time Citroën enthusiast in the Los Angeles area. Many considered him a friend, a mentor, and a source of all things Citroën.

He died on Monday, Dec 3 after suffering a heart attack the previous Friday.

Wally grew up with Citroëns, working at Bader’s garage in Riverside while in school when the cars were new. His dream, his passion, was to have his own shop. He finally achieved that goal opening Grand Central Citroën, but a debilitating nerve disease forced its closure just a few months later. While having to close Grand Central Citroën broke his heart, but he kept up his passion for the marque and his devotion to other Citroën owners none the less.

Up until the last, he kept tabs on who had what, who needed what, who was selling, who was buying, even in the face of the daily pain he was suffering. He will be missed by all that encountered his fun, loud and boisterous passion.
