We are most saddened to report the death of Jarred Ashton Newallo, 25-year old son of William and Deborah Newallo, who died on Friday, June 20.
Jarred attended many Citroën Rendezvous over the years with his parents. He was working at his job as a sanitation worker in the town of Hempstead, Long Island, NY when the garbage truck he was riding on the back of crashed into another garbage truck in East Meadow. Police say that he was trying to guide a second sanitation truck through a narrow street when the two trucks collided, pinning him between them at the corner of Prospect Avenue and Chestnut Street at 9:25 a.m. He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Jarred had been working for the town for about a year, but his passion was music. In his spare time, he was a DJ who created original mixes, posting them on websites like YouTube, SoundCloud, and Mixcloud. He was also a Fire Medic (EMT) in the Hempstead Fire Department Rescue Squad.
A funeral service will be held on Funeral will be on 6/28/2014 @ 11:00 am at the Hempstead Funeral Home, with the interment to follow immediately after at the Greenfield Cemetery.
Update – March 23, 2019: Aside from Citroëns, one of Jarred’s passions was skateboarding and trying to get a skateboard park built in his hometown. Jarred’s father, William Newallo, has been pursuing this and on September 17, 2018, construction started on a skateboard park dedicated to Jarred. On September 17, 2018 construction started and the opening day celebration for the park will be April 27 @ 12 pm. The address is:
