Three Citroëns at RM Sotheby’s Retromobile Auction

A trio of Citroëns will be offered for sale at RM Sotheby’s Retromobile auction February 4 – 5, 2025 in Paris. A 1934 7B Traction Avant Cabriolet and a 1956 2CV come from The Curated Collection while a 1970 DS 21 Décapotable is presently owned by an enthusiast. All appear to be good quality – but not concours. Here are the details;

1934 7B Traction Avant Cabriolet
Estimate: €80,000 – €120,000 EUR — Offered Without Reserve

The Cabriolet was bought in Poitiers at the end of 1999 before a protracted restoration commenced the following summer. The engine was sent off to Paris to be rebuilt, with the bodywork seen to in Uzerche in 2008. The steering rack was reinstalled in the middle of 2013 to complete the overhaul.
Chassis 016315 was then sold in October 2013, at which point it was acquired by The Curated Collection.

1956 2CV
Estimate: €10,000 – €15,000 EUR — Offered Without Reserve

The 2CV was registered new in Belgium to Andre Verstraete of the Woluwe-Saint-Lambert region of Brussels. The car is offered with its period Belgian registration. Between then and when the Citroën joined The Curated Collection in November 2015, the car’s history is not documented, while at some point it has been restored.

1970 DS 21 Décapotable
Estimate: €140,000 – €170,000 EUR

It was previously owned by an enthusiastic lady owner from 2002 until 2012 and was later acquired by the vendor. Under previous ownership, this Décapotable benefited from a comprehensive restoration by a marque expert in the Netherlands, with copies of the invoices on file.

The DS21 is now presented in Wedgewood Blue with sumptuous Marine Blue leather interior and a matching dark blue mohair soft top.

Enjoyed by the consigning owner for over a decade, it was sent to marque experts Pallas Auto of Kent, England, in October 2024 for servicing and maintenance work. An oil service was carried out, and four new Michelin XAS tyres were fitted, as well as various ball joints and bearings, for a total bill exceeding £3,600.
