On Saturday, October 4, members of Citroën Autoclub Canada enjoyed a delightful outing amidst Ontario’s fall foliage, although the weather felt more like a hot summer’s day than autumn.

One could hardly complain as with windows down and in some cases roofs back, the convoy ventured northeast of Toronto stopping for lunch at Slabtown Cider Co. (just south of Uxbridge) and then taking lovely back-roads over to Bailieboro, ON for wine tasting at Rolling Grape Vineyard.

Starting from Richmond Hill, the group welcomed two non-Citroën vehicles into the mix. John Long (of Escargot Motorcars and Bowlus travel trailers fame) who now resides in California and was visiting his cottage in Huntsville, drove down in his 1947 Tatra T87, while Eric Haugen and his wife Elke arrived from Guelph in their 1960 Cadillac.

The day was further brightened by Roland Voegele and his friend Franziska in a 2CV, John Meurs also in a 2CV, Ahmad Joulaie in his Mehari, Sieste Elsinga in a 2CV, and George and Marijke Dyke in their 1960 ID19. Damien and Vesna Damjam joined the fun with their charming 1991 Citroën BX 1.6 Millésime. Additionally, Irena and Robert Zmyslowski drove their US-spec Ami 6 break, while Pieter van Oudenaren from Bobcaygeon, ON, joined as a passenger in the convoy, as his 1970 2CV is still undergoing restoration.

Christian Thürler made the journey from Winchester, ON, arriving in his DS21 as the group convened at Slabtown Cider Co., just south of Uxbridge, for lunch.

The route was spectacular and the group had plenty of time to relax at the stops along the way. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends and forge new acquaintances.

This outing marked another successful fall gathering for Citroën Autoclub Canada, inspiring members to look forward to the next event.
