2CV Sahara Turns Up at RM Sothebys’ Lake Como Auction

Held every two years since 2011, RM Sotheby’s exclusive Villa Erba auction takes place along the beautiful shores of Lake Como, Italy, just one hour north of Milan. Held in partnership with the revered Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the event on May 25 this year lists a 1963 Citroën 2CV 4×4 ‘Sahara’ for sale. There are not many details about its ownership other than this Sahara has only ever been registered for road use by one Belgian owner.

Overall the condition is more of a driver, with some shoddy bodywork being apparent around the front door and behind the rear bumper. The interior and engine bay shows that the car was used, and not so much in a loving way, which makes us think that the estimated sell price of between €70.000 – €90.000 seems a tad high.

However, it is being offered without reserve and with just 70 lots in the auction and most the other cars offered being high-end exotics, this 36,559 km Sahara may end up in a bidding war.

More photos and the listing can be seen here.

While not pristine, it not a restoration candidate either. We hope it goes to a true 2CV Sahara enthusiast who will continue to enjoy it in practical use!
