New Promotional Video for 90 Years of the Traction Avant Meeting
A new video appeared on YouTube today promoting the 90 Years of the Traction Avant – International Traction Avant Meeting that will be held at Circuit de Charade, Puy de Dome, France from May 9 to 11, 2024. Traction Club Des Volcans had a few members go there with their Tractions and shoot a few lovely sequences to inspire Traction Avant enthusiasts worldwide to attend.
1,000 Tractions are expected for the event with registration closing at the end of February 2024.
The agenda includes:
- A special museum dedicated to the Traction Avant
- A Concours d’élégance for Tractions
- Conferences on the Traction and Citroën history,
- Local tour rallies
- Opportunities to drive your Traction on Le Circuit de Charade — considered by Sir Stirling Moss as the nicest circuit in the world.
- A Gala dinner
And of course there is the opportunity to visit the beautiful Auvergne region in the center of France.
- Registration fees : €90 for the car and 2 passengers (€70 for the car & driver only), €30 for any additional passenger. This price will include access to the circuit during the 3 days, to the track for a collective Traction convoy, an aperitif dinner on Thursday evening, and of course the welcome pack including rally plaque. This fee does not include the accommodation, and the “Diner de gala” on the Saturday night (will be €67 per person) at the Zenith de Clermont-Ferrand. Early registrations (ie: before December) are highly recommended, for two main reasons: 1) You will benefit from a special price, and 2) Maximum attendance will be 1000 Tractions, not one more !
We are pleased to also offer this info to help North-American travellers to go to the event:
1- From a North American airport fly into Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport, North East of Paris
2- Select your travel option to Charade which is actually to the city of Clermont-Ferrand: Plane (domestic from CDG), train or rental car. A rental car will also help you navigate around Clermont-Ferrand, Charade and the Volcano park or other touristic places around. Clermont-Ferrand is about 10 minutes from Charade track.
If you decide to take the train from Paris to Clermont-Ferrand, you will need to take a shuttle, cab or RER (subway system) from CDG to Paris-Bercy train station. Then find a transportation from the Clermont Ferrand train station or airport to Charade.
3- For lodging, you can go on AirB&B, VRBO, Priceline.com, bookings.com, or any booking sites. You may also be able to book a package on some sites (hotel-car-flight).
4- Below are couple of documents to help you plan your trip. On the News-Letter document, you will find the contacts in France: François Hénot and Stéphane Hadangue
5- Make sure you have a valid passport which does not expire within the next 6 months of your entry back in the US. If you drive, it is recommended to get a temporary international drivers’ license (check with AAA to get one or the necessity to get one)
6- The cost of the ticket for the entry is the one listed on the application entry form without the car (and with the car in case you decide to fly your car over) for the weekend.
7- Print your payment receipt and take it with you just in case there is an issue with receipt of your Pass-Card/ticket for registeation.
8- All registered participants will receive an email with their Registration Number and a Pass-Card to go thought the entrance gates a few weeks before the event.
