We are pleased to share the following update from Henning Bein, Head of Design at MISSION:UX, regarding a long-anticipated project that has generated significant interest across the Citroën community: a transparent replacement roof panel for the Citroën ID/DS. This is a niche but highly appreciated product for DS/ID enthusiasts worldwide.

After a necessary pause for personal reasons, the project is now moving forward with renewed momentum. A first production series is planned for calendar weeks 22/23 (approximately May 25 – June 5, 2026).
Material & Variants
For this initial series, Henning favours PMMA (Plexiglas XT) over polycarbonate. PMMA offers key advantages for classic car applications: it does not yellow over time, requires no additional coating, and can be polished if needed. Polycarbonate (PC) remains available as a break-resistant alternative with scratch-resistant coating.
Polycarbonate (PC) — with scratch-resistant coating:
- Clear
- Light grey
- Dark grey
- Green
- Blue
PMMA / Plexiglas XT — with or without coating (uncoated version is polishable):
- Clear
- Light grey
- Dark grey
- Custom colour (please specify)
Custom interior and/or exterior graphic printing is available at additional cost. Pricing has naturally evolved since the project’s inception in 2013; a detailed cost update will follow shortly. As an indication: PC roofs are expected to be approximately twice the price of PMMA versions.
Next Steps & Call for Interest
Following the pilot series, Henning will conduct fit and installation testing on a D-model vehicle. Input on mounting variants and solar shading solutions is welcome.
If you have an interest in a transparent roof panel, please send a non-binding reply indicating:
- Your preferred material and colour
- The number of units desired
- Any custom printing requirements
