DS4 Gets a Styling Refresh, EV Option and a New Name — No4

DS Automobiles brand within Stellantis today released details of its evolutionary update to the DS4 crossover, the upmarket version of the Citroën C4 models. Along with a fresh look, incorporating cues from its upcoming electric flagship, the No8, it takes on a new name — No4.

Styling changes are mainly focused on the front, which now features a new wider and redesigned grille while keeping the V-shaped light signature, while at the rear the lights are now LED.

Interior changes are minor, the most notable being the fitment of a new 10.25″ display.

The EV version called the No4 E-Tense will use the same powertrain as the similarly sized Peugeot e-408 and recently face-lifted Citroën ë-C4.

Power is supplied by a single electric motor that sends 210hp and 253lb ft of torque to the front wheels.

The No4 E-Tense is fitted with a 58.3kWh (net) battery that delivers up to 450 kms of range and a 0-100 Km/hr acceleration in the 7.5 second range. Like its Peugeot sibling, the new DS can be rapid-charged at rates of up to 120kW, allowing for a 100 km top-up in 11 minutes.

A plug-in hybrid version will also be offered with a 178bhp turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine with a gearbox-integrated motor for 222bhp and 266lb ft. A larger and more efficient 14.6kWh battery will provide as much as 50 kms of electric range, 30% more than the current DS4 Hybrid.

In keeping with its premium image, 19″ alloy rims are fitted as standard, with 20″offered as an option.

It is hoped that the No8 C-segment hatchback will spark sales interest in the competitive compact crossover market, going head-to-head with rivals like the BMW X2.

In the UK the DS4 has been the brand’s best seller since its 2021 launch, but even so, just 2300 have been sold. While the DS4 has done much better in Europe, with 10,405 sales in 2024, DS Automobiles is struggling, with overall deliveries down 22.4% last year.

The No4 will be available beginning in the summer in both electric and internal combustion engine configurations.

Pricing has yet to be announced, but expect it to be in the current DS4 range that starts in excess of €40,000.
