Early 2CV — Part of the Academy of Art University Collection Auction in California

On February 15, 2025 Broad Arrow Auctions will be selling off more than 100 cars in San Francisco from the Academy of Art University Collection, including desirable American, European, and British pre- and post-War models.

The collection has been curated over the last several decades, first by longtime President of the Academy of Art University Dr. Richard Alan Stephens, and subsequently by his daughter, Dr. Elisa Stephens.

The sole Citroën being offered is a 1950 2CV (titled as model year 1948) — an original Italian-delivery example retaining hand-painted registration marks. It looks to be in remarkably good condition.

Chassis No. 005408

Engine No. 0E00616

Estimate: $25,000 – $35,000 USD. — It is being offered without reserve.

The inner sections of the front fenders appear have some sheet metal added for support and there is a hood prop bar that has been added to the sides fenders whereas the ripple bonnet is normally supported by a centre post attached to the firewall. The headlight housing brackets that hold the lenses have an unusual “cap” in top. Perhaps something fabricated at some point as the brackets are typically secured with somewhat fragile clips.

Since entering the Academy of Art University Collection in 2014, the car has reportedly been maintained including cleaning out the fuel tank and fuel lines shortly after acquisition, re-sleeving the master cylinder, rebuilding the front wheel cylinders, replacing the rear wheel cylinders, and painting and cleaning the front drum brakes.

Of course, the successful bidder will be enjoying life in the slow lane as the 2-cylinder engine is only 375 cc.
