We would like to introduce you to a particularly charming and unusual vehicle.
Ordered in 1956 by a couple of Belgian doctors to travel with their entire family, this Citroën HY was converted at the time into a genuine two-level traveling home, officially approved and delivered in the summer of 1957.
With its ice-blue colour, as charming as a little ice-cream cone, it carried the family across Europe and as far as Turkey, becoming part of a remarkable family adventure.
Recently rediscovered in its remarkably preserved original condition, it retains its period interior fittings, patina, original papers and an important collection of period documentation recording its history. It has deliberately not been restored or modernized.
Located near Saint-Étienne, France, it is rare survivor from the early days of European family motorhome travel.
The present owner, an antique dealer, hopes it will go to a collector or institution who will appreciate its authenticity, history and unique character.
