Since Citroënvie member Dominique Legeai moved from Illinois to Fountain Hills Arizona to enjoy his retirement, he has been busy creating a Citroën Club there. It is called ACE (Arizona Citroën Enthusiasts) and has 32 members but not all have a running car.

Total car count presently is 44 (estimated 32 in running order); 3 x 2CV, 1 x Burton, 13 x “D” models, 2 x Mehari, 1 x Trefle, 6 x Traction Avant, 7 x SM, and 1 x Maserati Merak (same engine as the SM). A few members own more than one Citroën, and some own many other makes.

In April, the ACE participated in the Camelback Vintage Motor Show in Paradise Valley, Arizona.

The event is limited to 125 cars built prior to 1977 and this year Citroën, on its 100th anniversary, was the featured marque. A 1953 Traction Avant was one of the showcased classics.

Dominique says as far as Tractions Avants are concerned; “We do have 6 Tractions, though no 15/6 and no cabriolet….too bad! Our next meeting will be in September after my return from the summer in France.”

Another show the Club attends is the Fountain Hills Concours in February. The ACE has been present at that for 4 years.

Also, earlier this year, Dominique helped Xavier Neron, a Frenchman from Marseilles, who was cruising the US in his 2CV camionnette (shipped to Baltimore). He spent 2 nights at Dominique’s where they did some maintenance work on the car. Xavier then drove to Monument Valley, Las Vegas and on to San Francisco before flying back to France (due to a Visa limitation). Xavier will return to San Francisco to conclude and complete his planned trip in Sept/Oct via Canada, closing the loop in Baltimore and ship his car back to France. His total kms travelled in the USA and Canada is estimated to be 26,000!

It’s great to see Citroën owners come together in Arizona, and we welcome them into the Citroënvie family!
